Programs in Statistics

We are now offering a B.Sc. or B.A. 4-year Statistics degree, Data Science Stream. This degree will involve a mix of Statistics, Mathematics and Applied Computer Science courses. Contact an advisor for more information.

 

Requirements for a 4-year BA/BSc in Statistics 
  • STAT-1301 Introduction to Statistical Analysis I OR STAT-1501 Elementary Biological Statistics OR STAT-1401 Statistics I for Business and Economics AND STAT-1302 Introduction to Statistical Analysis I OR STAT-2001 Elementary Biological Statistics II
  • STAT-2301 Survey Sampling I
  • STAT-2903 Introduction to Statistical Computing
  • STAT-3103 Applied Regression Analysis and STAT-3104 Analysis of Variance and Covariance 
  • STAT/MATH-2612 Mathematical Statistics I and STAT/MATH-3612 Mathematical Statistics II
  • STAT-4202 Statistical Inference
  • 21 credit hours chosen from a list of prescribed courses in the academic calendar

Note: Since MATH-2105/2106 are co-requisites for STAT/MATH-2612/3612, students should take MATH-1103, MATH-1104 and MATH-1201 in their first year and MATH-2105, MATH-2106 in their second year.

Requirements for a minor in Statistics
  • STAT-1301 Introduction to Statistical Analysis I OR STAT-1501 Elementary Biological Statistics OR STAT-1401 Statistics I for Business and Economics AND STAT-1302 Introduction to Statistical Analysis I OR STAT-2001 Elementary Biological Statistics II
  • STAT-2301 Survey Sampling I
  • Any additional 9 credit hours at the 2000 level or higher (not including STAT-2001)
