Canadian University Transfer Agreements

Graduate Transfer Agreement Between Canadian Universities

This agreement is to provide students in good standing enrolled in a graduate degree or diploma program at a CAGS (Canadian Association of Graduate Studies) member university the opportunity to avail themselves of courses offered at another member institution (host) for transfer credit to the program at their institution (home).

The Western Dean's Agreement

Western Dean's Agreement Authorization Form

The primary goal of the Western Dean's Agreement is the reciprocal enrichment of graduate programs throughout western Canada. This agreement is not intended to preclude other agreements between participating institutions.

The Western Deans' Agreement provides an automatic tuition fee waiver for visiting students. Graduate students paying normal required tuition fees to their home institution will not pay tuition fees to the host institution. Students may be required to pay student, activity, application, or other ancillary fees to the host institution, according to general policies in effect at the host institution. Wherever possible, these fees will also be waived.

Fully completed WDA authorization forms must be received by the Faculty of Graduate Studies a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the start of the term of enrollment at another . Students can refer to the host university's academic calendar (UWinnipeg's Graduate Studies Academic Calendar) to identify the term start dates for that institution.

Please note that some courses at host universities may require instructor approval prior to applying for the course via the WDA form. It is up to each student to verify whether this is required for the course they are interested in, and to attach proof of the instructor approval to the Wester Dean's Agreement Authorization Form.
